“MY goal is to have the solar lights replaced at the Gov. Eloy S. Inos Peace Park so more people can use the area in the evenings,” Parks and Recreation Director Michael A. Cruz said Monday.

“After Typhoon Yutu, there were no lights here at the Peace Park…. But a lot of people are utilizing the area for walking and exercising,” he added.

“By having the lights replaced, more people will be able to use the area especially in the evenings when it is cooler,” he said.

Cruz thanked Energy Division Director Thelma Inos for “spearheading the project.”

“They are the ones who assisted Parks and Rec in acquiring the solar light replacements,” he said. “Going forward, the collaboration will continue. We will be doing more. We just have to do one thing at a time.”

Cruz said replacing 41 small bollards for the walkway and 61 light poles should be completed in two weeks or a month.

“When the solar lights are fully replaced, people will have more sense of safety and security as the area will be brighter, and it will be safer to walk here. That is the goal so more people can come and use the area in the evening,” he added.
