JOSHUA Orilly Garde was arrested for violating a Superior Court order of protection when he harassed his relatives and demanded that they drop him somewhere.
Garde, 32, was charged with domestic violence, contempt of court, and disturbing the peace.
At a bail hearing on Tuesday afternoon, Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $3,000 cash bail on Garde, who was represented by Assistant Public Defender Molly Dennert. Assistant Attorney General Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
After the hearing, Garde was remanded to the custody of Corrections and was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 14 at 10 a.m., and for an arraignment on March 4 at 9 a.m.
Disturbance
According to the complaint against Garde, police responded to a disturbance incident at an apartment in Gualo Rai on Feb. 1 at about 6:41 p.m.
The two victims told police that Garde came into the apartment and started demanding that they and their mother drop him somewhere.
The mother told Garde that she could not drop him because she didn’t have a lot of gas for her vehicle, which caused the defendant to get angrier.
They said Garde started shouting at them and continued demanding that someone drop him.
When they told him no, Garde got mad and walked around the living room, smoking cigarettes and shouting, the victims told police.
They said Garde later took a knife from the kitchen and waved it around while he continued shouting.
The victims went into a bedroom and stayed there to avoid a confrontation. They also called the police.
After Garde heard one of the victims speaking on the phone, he left the house without a shirt on while wearing a gray hat.
At 1:25 a.m., a police officer spotted him on Enrique Street in Chalan Kanoa. He was arrested for violating a court order, disturbing the peace and domestic violence.
According to the police, on Sept. 7, 2023, Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio ordered Garde to stay away from his relatives for a year. The temporary restraining order expires on Sept. 7, 2024.
No other information about the defendant was available as of press time Monday evening.
