THE Rendezvous Warriors and L.S/Hobbies ChokieChokie eliminated their respective opponents in the semifinals of the 2023 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League on Thursday, and will face each other for the title.

The Warriors barely broke a sweat as they secured their seat in the finals by trouncing Black 8 Shake & Break, 9-2.

The teamwork of Roman Rodriguez and Juancho Mendoza acted as a sparkplug for the Warriors who bagged the first game of the opening Partners 8-Ball match against Shake & Break’s Mei Rengiil and Chris Camacho.

The Warriors’ Rey Pinangay and Jerry Soriano then notched their team’s second straight win to lead, 2-1.

In the individual matches, the Warriors continued to excel with Nolan Cultura Soriano and Rodriguez collecting three more wins before Shake & Break’s Randy Sablan stopped the bleeding.

Down 1-5,  Shake & Break could not prevent Warriors from dominating the second Singles 8-Ball match, 9-2, and earning a ticket to the finals.

The other finalist

L.S/Hobbies ChokieChokie, for their part, outlasted Black 8 Crazy Ballers, 9-7.

The match started with ChokieChokie’s Marc Brian Nelvis and Franklin Bongolan, along with Frankie Blas and Maverick Espinosa, sweeping the opening Partners 8-Ball games 2-0.

The Crazy Ballers fought back but remained behind. Jess Farinas, Victor Formales and John Roquelara tried to keep their team alive by splitting the next four matches, but ChokieChokie stayed afloat and was the first to reach nine points to win the match, 9-7, and land in the finals.

The Warriors will face ChokieChokie this Thursday at Rendezvous Restaurant.
