JOE Sablan Jr. clinched the January Ace of the Month title of the Amigos Golf Club at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort golf course on Sunday.
Sablan set the tone during the qualifier round on Jan. 21, thanks to his great placements and consistent finishes on the green to end with a gross score of 83. With a handicap of 9, his net score was 74.
On the following Sunday, in the ace round, Sablan improved his stroke with a gross of 73 and a net of 64. With a total net score of 138, Sablan topped the January Ace of the Month Tournament.
In second place was Tony Satur, who shot a gross of 87 in the qualifier round. With a handicap of 14, his net score was 73. In the ace round, he notched a gross of 84 and a net of 70 for a total net score of 143.
The Par 3 optional play gave the Amigos a chance to win cash prizes. The winners were Tonchu Norita, who triumphed on hole #4; Joe Sablan Jr., hole #6; Joe Sasamoto, hole #11; and Tony Satur, hole #15. Each received $125.
The Amigos also welcomed new members Lester Manglona, Tonchu Norita and Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho, as well as a guest, Joe Sasamoto.
The Amigos’ February Ace of the Month Tournament is slated for Feb. 4 and 18 starting at 8:30 a.m.
