
(NMCADSV) — The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence and community partners cordially invites the community to the Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month proclamation signing ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr./Sr. High School in Songsong, Rota.
The ceremony officially marks February as Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month or TDVAM in the CNMI. It will be livestreamed in partnership with KUAM and will be available for viewing on https://www.facebook.com/kuamnews/.
Led by middle and high school students, the event will feature an engaging program of emceeing, presentations, short skits, performances, and guest speakers — a youth-driven initiative for awareness and support.
“Empowering the youth and the next generation starts with awareness. Our goal for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month is to illuminate, uplift, and promote a future where love is built on respect, understanding, and kindness,” said NMCADSV Program Coordinator and TDVAM Chair Grace S. Veleña.
In addition to the ceremony, NMCADSV will conduct school presentations throughout February, contributing to a comprehensive educational effort.
NMCADSV is also pleased to announce the upcoming hosting of two KKMP shows, featuring public discussions led by diverse teen speakers addressing topics related to teen dating violence. Listeners are encouraged to tune in to 92.1 FM at 8 a.m. on Feb. 14 and 28, 2024. All broadcasting details will be shared on NMCADSV’s social media accounts, ensuring widespread access to these meaningful conversations.
Moreover, NMCADSV is thrilled to present its signature event, the “Know Your Worth” Art, Essay, and Spoken Word Competition, specifically tailored for middle school and high school students currently enrolled in the CNMI. Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your talents. Submissions are welcome until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024.
The live competition, featuring the final round of participants in the Spoken Word Category, is scheduled to take place at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at 6 p.m. Ensure you don’t miss the exhilarating moment when winners across the Art, Essay, and Spoken Word categories will be officially announced. Open to the public, seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Come and extend your support for the exceptionally talented youth of the CNMI!
