HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man was arrested on suspicion of robbing a Dededo store of $700 while brandishing a knife.
About 8:20 p.m. Monday, the Guam Police Department responded to reports of an armed robbery at New Fatima Store in Dededo, “where two males rushed in with a knife,” police said in a press release issued Friday.
“One male threatened the attendant and demanded money. After breaking the plexiglass partition, he reached over and took approximately $700 from the till. The two then fled the store and towards Route 16,” police said in the release.
After police received video footage of the incident, detectives immediately recognized the main assailant as Brandon G. Flores, “who they encountered only hours prior while conducting a follow-up investigation regarding a separate armed robbery occurring” the day before, just around the corner from the store, GPD said in the release.
GPD located Flores at the same residence where detectives had previously met with him.
Flores was taken into custody without incident and arrested under suspicion of robbery, terrorizing, criminal mischief, conspiracy, guilt established by complicity and theft. Flores was found with a glass pipe which tested positive for methamphetamine. He also was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
Flores has since been confined at the Department of Corrections and the case was forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General.
GPD’s investigation remains open and ongoing, police said in the release.
Record
According to prison files, Flores was released from the Department of Corrections on Nov. 17, 2023, after he was charged in June 2023 with stealing a car.
According to court documents, on June 25, 2023, police received reports a man’s car was stolen by Flores, who allegedly put a knife to the victim’s neck and asked the victim to exit the vehicle.
Nearly a month later, on July 19, 2023, Flores was seen by officers driving the vehicle and led police on a chase that resulted in the car being stuck sitting on top of a tree stump. Flores allegedly told officers he stole the car from a man who owed Flores $400, so Flores “didn’t consider it stealing,” documents state.
Flores in that case also allegedly was found with meth.
Additionally, in September 2022, Flores was one of three individuals suspected in a string of armed robberies of businesses that included gas stations, game rooms and convenience stores. Flores was charged with two counts of robbery as second-degree felonies in connection to those robberies.
