THE Black 8 Ideal Signs Rustlers won their second Budweiser Cup in a row by defeating Black 8 Rack N Roll, 9-6, in the Tuesday division of the 2023 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League at the Black 8 Pool Bar on Tuesday.
Rack N Roll’s Randy Sablan and Chris Camacho worked well as a pair as they bagged the first win, but the Rustlers’ Charold Hamoy and Ken Chen split the opening Partners 8-Ball match to tie the score.
In the one-on-one scene, both teams remained as equals with Charold and Chester Hamoy contributing two wins for the Rustlers while Rack N Roll’s Sablan and Roland Igisomar clinched the other two games of the Singles 8-Ball match for a 3-3 tie.
However, in the second Partners 8-Ball match, the Rustlers’ Jerry Tiu and Chester Hamoy as well as teammates Mei Rengiil and Rowel “Cobra” Mariano earned a two-win sweep to grasp a slight advantage, 5-3.
The Rustlers managed to hold onto the lead throughout the rest of the match by focusing on defense and preventing a Rack N Roll rally.
Rack N Roll fought back with a split in the second singles matchup, but they failed to maintain consistency in the third Singles 8-Ball as the Rustlers’ Tiu and Chester Hamoy bagged the final two wins needed to win the match and retain the championship.
