HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A woman is behind bars accused of stealing a bicycle worth thousands of dollars.
A magistrate’s complaint was filed Saturday in the Superior Court of Guam against Elizabeth Burke Glory, 50, containing allegations that she walked into a warehouse in Tamuning and rode off with a mountain bike.
The reported theft occurred on Jan. 18, according to the magistrate’s complaint, which states, “The mountain bike was valued at $7,500.”
“A witness told (Guam Police Department) officers that, at around noon of that same day, she witnessed an unknown female exiting the warehouse while riding a bicycle,” the complaint stated.
The theft was caught on camera. Police were able to identify Glory as the “unknown female” through surveillance footage, based on previous encounters with the suspect.
Glory was seen “entering the warehouse and exiting the warehouse on the mountain bike,” the complaint said, referring to the surveillance footage.
The following day, officers tracked down Glory at the former Guam Poly Clinic in Tamuning, based on information received about her whereabouts.
“The defendant was located with the mountain bike,” the complaint said, noting that it had been “painted.”
Glory reportedly apologized for stealing the bike.
“The defendant admitted to seeing the mountain bike in the warehouse and that she decided to take the bike. She added that she rode the bike to where she was currently located. She also stated that she used markers on the bike. She stated that she was sorry and claimed that she was willing to pay money to help repair the bike,” the complaint said.
Glory was charged with theft as a second-degree felony and criminal trespass as a misdemeanor.
She was committed to the Department of Corrections on $5,000 cash bail.
A Guam Police Department shoulder patch is seen on an officer’s uniform on Dec. 6, 2023, in Dededo.
