HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man faces felony charges after a teenage girl’s father filed a complaint with police when the girl didn’t return home from school.
On Jan. 14 at about 1:30 a.m., the man filed a report with the Guam Police Department after his 15-year-old daughter did not return home after going to school two days before. The man added he suspected his daughter was at Norbert John Muna Balajadia’s home, according to the magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam.
The man believed Balajadia, 36, and his daughter were “engaged in a sexual relationship,” the complaint stated.
The man also learned that his daughter did not go to school Jan. 12.
According to the complaint, officers went to search for the 15-year-old girl at Balajadia’s home.
“No one answered the front door after (the) police knocked and announced their presence. The police thereafter shined a flashlight into a window, saw a male sleeping, and announced their presence. The male identified himself as the defendant,” the complaint stated.
After announcing they were looking for the minor, Balajadia told police she was not at his home and that he hadn’t seen her for two weeks. When officers asked if they could check for the girl at Balajadia’s home, Balajadia said again she was not there and “seemed hesitant to allow the police to check for her,” according to the complaint.
Balajadia, once again, claimed the minor was not at his home, but when police asked again, Balajadia said only one of the police officers could check. The officer responded that for officer safety he couldn’t go inside the house but if the minor was inside, Balajadia should call her out.
“The defendant then looked down, sighed and called (the minor) three times. The minor female came out from a hallway,” the complaint stated.
The minor denied being in a sexual relationship with the Balajadia “but did disclose that the defendant kissed her on the lips and then her left shoulder area, where he left a hickey,” according to the complaint.
Balajadia, however, allegedly denied kissing the minor and said her accusation was untrue.
“The police asked the defendant how they could trust him when he was initially dishonest about (the minor) being at her home, to which the defendant indicated that (the minor’s) father does not like him and told (the minor) to make the forgoing accusation,” according to the complaint.
Balajadia allegedly also said the 15-year-old girl slept in his bed while he slept on the floor, but after officers said they found him sleeping on his own bed, Balajadia responded, “I must have went onto the bed.”
“The police then asked the defendant whether he slept next to (the minor), to which he responded that he was unsure,” according to the complaint.
Balajadia was charged with two counts of second-degree custodial interference as third-degree felonies.
