Chacha school responds to unauthorized entry

CHACHA Ocean View Middle School in Kagman implemented lockdown measures after an unauthorized person entered the campus Wednesday morning.

The Department of Public Safety’s public information officer, Sgt. Fred Sato, told Variety that “one male suspect had already fled when responding police officers arrived.”

The Public School System, in a statement, said COVMS initiated a school lockdown to ensure the safety of all students, staff and individuals on campus.

“This is in response to an unauthorized campus entry,” PSS stated.

DPS was called immediately, and the school executed emergency procedures.

At around 1:40 p.m., the school transitioned from a lockdown to a lockout, prohibiting the entrance of unauthorized visitors on campus.

DPS remained on campus until 5 p.m. to ensure continuous safety.

According to PSS, classes remained in operation for the remainder of the say with extra security measures in place.

As of press time Wednesday evening, Variety was unable to obtain more information about the case.
