HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Returning in its 28th year, Pay-Less Markets announced its Kick the Fat 5K/10K Run/Walk and Wellness Fair will take place in March.
The race is set for March 16, starting at the Paseo Stadium in Hagåtña. Show time is 5 a.m. for all. For runners who chose a 10K distance run, go-time is 5:45 a.m., and the 5K run go-time is 6 a.m.
“For over two decades, the annual Pay-Less Markets Kick the Fat event provides a platform to promote a healthy lifestyle for our island residents along with funding to support the missions of nonprofit organizations. Each year we raise the bar to ensure a successful event, and this year will be even better,” Pay-Less President and CEO Kathy Calvo said in a press release.
Early-bird registration is $20 for the 5K and $25 for the 10K until Jan. 28. Fees will increase from Jan. 29 through March 7 to $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K. Participants who register March 8 and March 9, will be charged $30 for the 5K and $35 for the 10K.
All proceeds benefit the Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteers Association, the Guam Pharmacist Association, I Hinanao, I Magahet, Yan I Ininna and the University of Guam Endowment Foundation.
“We are very excited to once again share the hafa adai spirit and our Kick the Fat 5K/10K Run/Walk and Wellness Fair with our island community,” said Pay-Less Community Foundation President Marie Benito.
Packets will be available March 9 at the Guam Elite Basketball Association National Training Center/Gym in Tiyan, Barrigada.
The first 1,500 5K finishers will receive a Run Guam T-shirt and reusable bag. The first 300 10K finishers will receive a Run Guam singlet and reusable bag.
Registered runners will be entered in a raffle to win prizes, including a grand prize of a $600 Pay-Less gift certificate. A $500 cash prize will be awarded to the school with the most participation.
