THE Black 8 Ideal Signs Rustlers successfully defended their Tuesday division title by defeating the Rendezvous IT&E Destroyers, 9-4, in the championship match of the 2023 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League at the Black 8 Pool Bar.
The Destroyers’ Roman Rodriguez and Rey Pinangay claimed the first game while the Rustlers’ Rowel Mariano and Charold Hamoy clinched the second to split the Partners 8-Ball match, 1-1.
In the one-on-one games, however, the Rustlers gained the upper hand as Chester Hamoy, Mariano, Ken Chen, and Jerry Tiu swept all four matches to give their team the lead, 5-1.
The Destroyers fought back, but they could only split the next two games. The Rustlers, thanks to Chester Hamoy, then clinched the final win in the third Singles 8-Ball match to end the game and claim the championship, 9-4.
In the battle for third place, the Black 8 Slayers bested the Rendezvous Warriors, 9-3.
