THE Dodgers clobbered the Marlins, 16-3, in a 2023 SBL Masters League game at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Wednesday.
The Dodgers had an explosive start as the bases quickly filled after James Benavente and Derek Aguon connected a single each and slipped past home bases due to defensive errors. Three more runs were then added, highlighted by Richard Quitugua’s two-RBI double to give the Dodgers the lead, 5-0.
The Marlins replied with a run contributed by Cartfield Sablan who hit an RBI single, but the Dodgers retaliated with seven runs in the top of the second inning as Bruce Norita and Ed Manibusan contributed two RBIs each to make it 12-1.
The Marlins continued to put up a fight and added a total of two runs in the bottom of the second and third innings, but the Dodgers also kept the fuel burning on their end, scoring three runs in the third and one more in the fourth for a commanding lead, 16-3.
With the Marlins failing to score in the next two innings, the game ended in the fifth and the Dodgers claimed their fifth win.
