About R’nH

The MHS Glee Club was formed in 2010 as a 16-member competition group. They adopted the performance name Rhythm ‘N Harmony in their second year.

Today the club is again composed  of  16  members  and  is  an alumnae directed and student directed group after being directed and inspired for a number of years by Paul Dujua before he moved to the mainland U.S

The alumnae director is Donna Galvez and the student director and club president is Jane Mozunder.

R’nH has a strong performance history.

The group participated in the Tumon Bay Music Festival for 11 years and was awarded the Gold Medal in all those performance years. They also won the Judges’ Choice for the Best High School Choral Group eight times. They were likewise awarded the prestigious overall Festival Sweepstakes Award six times.

While in Guam, R’nH performed in  elementary and high schools, between their festival weekend appearances. The club hopes to continue its festival appearance as well as Guam school tour and are fundraising to meet that goal.

For the nine school years prior to Covid-19, the group performed as part of the CNMI Thespian Team at the International Thespian Festival  in Lincoln, Nebraska. These past two years they performed again in that capacity returning to the festival, which is now being held in Bloomington Indiana. R’nH competes in Group Musical Theatre. The group has received nine superior ratings and two excellent ratings and was ranked second in the nation in 2012. For each of the six years prior to the Covid hiatus, the group brought back the top trophy from ITF’s “Festival Got Talent” competition which the club hopes will be reinstated this year.

The group has been featured in many CNMI local events such as Bridge Capital’s “Saipan Got Talent” (grand prize winner), and has performed the  national and CNMI anthems in various venues and for various organizations. They have also presented numerous other seasonal and celebratory performances. These are all part of their community service activities.

Among their other accomplishments, R’nH members have portrayed significant roles in Jonathan Larson’s “Rent,” Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods,” Marc Sheiman and Scott Wittman’s “Hairspray,” and other musical reviews produced by Friends of the Arts, Saipan. The group has also staged numerous concerts featuring contemporary music and dance.

It is Rhythm ‘N Harmony’s hope to inspire and delight the community with their expression of performing arts as well as to find new talents and continuously develop their technique to become well-rounded performers.
