REPRESENTATIVE Thomas John DLC “TJ” Manglona, food caterer Jessica Castro Domingo and Department of Corrections Commissioner Anthony Torres collaborated over the weekend to donate 400 lunch plates to island residents on Christmas Eve.
Through social media, Manglona invited community members to participate in the special holiday event beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Kagman Community Center.
“I had the great opportunity to partner with another champion in our community, Ms. Jessica Castro Domingo, who also does so much to give back in her capacity,” Manglona said on Facebook. “We know this past year has been tough for a lot of our folks. Speaking with my team, I just wanted to find a way to give back,” he added.
Domingo and Torres both donated food, with Domingo also preparing the food for distribution.
Manglona, who represents Precinct 5, said the event was for all island residents, adding that it was also a chance for him and his partners to help the “underserved or underrepresented.”
“The holidays are always a reminder to be thankful for all the little things we have, and more importantly a time to give back to those who need it the most,” he said.
The event likewise helped him honor his daughter, who recently passed away.
“The recent unexpected passing of my daughter served as a reminder to me that life is way too short, and I must continue to spread love and light as much as I can, just as my daughter did for me,” Manglona said.
