THE Department of Public Safety is investigating a theft incident at Laolao dive site on Tuesday afternoon, DPS public information officer Sgt. Fred Sato said.
Variety learned that a van owned by a dive shop operator was broken into and a cell phone, a Pelican case, $700 cash, and betel nuts were stolen.
The perpetrator shattered the van’s back door window to gain entry to the vehicle.
The dive operator, who requested anonymity, asked DPS to conduct more patrols in the area.
With more tourists visiting the island again, there has been an increase in theft incidents in the area, Variety was told.
The perpetrator shattered the van’s back door window to gain entry to the vehicle.
