NORTHERN Marianas College, once again, has received recognition from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations for its marketing initiatives, NMC announced on Saturday.

NMC, led by its Office of Institutional Advancement and Cooperative Research Extension and Education Services, received three medallion awards from NCMPR. To date, NMC has amassed a total of 16 medallion awards, consisting of seven gold awards, four silver awards, and four bronze awards.

NMC-Office of Institutional Advancement, which is responsible for overseeing the college’s marketing and communications endeavors, received a gold medallion for a video documenting what the college had to go through after Super Typhoon Yutu devastated the campus in October 2018. Additionally, a social media advertisement promoting NMC’s Spring 2023 semester earned the college another gold medallion.

The NMC-CREES media team also secured a bronze medallion for a social media advertisement earlier in the year.

The NCMPR medallion awards recognize excellence in design and communication as well as the achievements of community and technical colleges across the national organization’s seven districts.

The regional competition is exclusive to marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.

NMC operates under District Six, encompassing a diverse region that includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the CNMI, and Guam.

“I am extremely proud of the amazing marketing team at our Office of Institutional Advancement and CREES and would like to congratulate them on this achievement,” NMC President Galvin Deleon Guerrero, EdD said.

“This is an extremely remarkable feat, as our team competes with other colleges and universities with significantly more resources than us,” he added.

Robyn Martyn, the NCMPR medallion awards coordinator and assistant dean of enrollment and marketing at Cochise College in Arizona, was impressed with NMC’s submissions.

“I personally enjoyed watching [the video documenting the college’s journey after Super Typhoon Yutu]. It was a great way to show [the college’s] resiliency after such a tragedy,” Martyn said.

NMC aims to be a premier provider of higher education and training opportunities in the Pacific. The college’s Office of Institutional Advancement leads NMC’s communications strategy.

NMC Vice President for Administration and Advancement Frankie Eliptico heads the college’s marketing team, which includes Raynard Travilla, interim director for institutional advancement; Miguel Dandan, communications manager; Renedel Buno,  database administrator and lead graphic designer; Casey Huliganga, digital media specialist; Michaela Gatdula, NMC-CREES media specialist; and media interns Camille Hocog, Richard Baleares, Christian Troy Rosimo, Roxzanna Pangelinan and Patricia Pak.
