
Gov. Arnold I. Palacios on Monday met with officials of U.S. Customs and Border Protection headed by Pete Flores, the acting deputy commissioner of USCBP, who oversees its daily operations. USCBP’s expansive mission includes matters relating to trade, travel and national security. With Flores were David Salazar, director of field operations, USCBP San Francisco; George Minamishin, area port director, USCBP Honolulu; Jeffrey M. Hofschneider Jr., USCBP port director at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport; Ferdinand Mallari, USCBP officer; and Stevie Sauer, adjutant to the acting deputy commissioner of USCBP. During their meeting, the governor and USCBP officials discussed a number of issues including the implementation of facial biometrics technology at the airport.
