THE Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands reported a 43% average occupancy rate among its 11 member hotels for October 2023 and a 38% average occupancy rate this calendar year-to-date.
A total of 27,918 of 62,619 available room nights sold during October 2023. Average room rates were $143.61, and the average room rate is $144.72 year-to-date.
“At 43% average occupancy, HANMI member hotels are still well below the industry rate for profitability, which is about 80%,” said HANMI Acting Chairman Dennis Seo. “The pandemic is no longer a factor in visitor arrivals. We want to keep local workers employed and businesses open, we must find a third source market beside Korea and Japan. This would be the best way to revive our tourism economy and generate revenue and jobs.”
Hotels included in HANMI’s monthly statistical report are Aqua Resort Club, Aquarius Beach Tower, Century Hotel, Grandvrio Resort Saipan, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kanoa Resort Saipan, Kensington Hotel Saipan, Saipan World Resort, Surfrider Resort Hotel, and Pacific Islands Club Saipan.
The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands was established in 1985 as a professional forum for the hospitality industry of the Marianas. HANMI also makes regular charitable donations to support non-profit organizations and tourism-related government projects.
