“BETTER late than never” was Tony Deleon Guerrero’s motto as he shot a net score of 79 to clinch the Saipan Golf Association’s November Ace of the Month title on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Loalao Bay Golf & Resort east course.
Deleon Guerrero finished seventh overall, but the top six had already won Ace tournaments in the previous months so it was his turn to bring home the title.
He maintained a steady swing and a soft touch, closing out the front and back nines with a gross of 48 for a total gross score of 96. With a 17 handicap, his net score was 79.
In first place was Larry Deleon Guerrero with a net score of 68, followed by Das Krishnan, 69; Ed Manibusan and Ed Sablan, who both scored 72; Mariano Fajardo, 74; and Joe Sablan, 76.
In the optional play, the Closest to the Pin awards went to Ray San Nicholas for holes #4 and #6; Larry Deleon Guerrero, hole #11; and John Matsumoto, hole #15.
The Longest Drive award was won by Rick Kautz on hole #2 and Nick Sablan on hole #18.
SGA’s 2023 Aces of the Month so far are Ray S. Salas (January), Das Krishnan (February), Joe I. Sablan (March), Rick Kautz (April), Nick C. Sablan (May), Tony S. Reyes (June), Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (July), Edward C. Sablan (August), Ed Manibusan (September), Mariano Fajardo (October), and Tony Deleon Guerrero (November).
The 2023 December Ace of the Month Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort west course. Show time is 8:30 a.m. while tee time is 9 a.m.
The Ace of Aces Tournament will be held on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023. The venue and tee time will be announced soon.
