THE battle between father and son continue on in the Adult Open Class category of the Marianas Racing Association as Cuki Alvarez stole the top seat in last Sunday’s competitive races and a special impromptu return to CowTown.
Last Sunday, December 13th, Shane Alvarez stood tall claiming first place but last weekend, father Cuki Alvarez stole the show in his “home court” in CowTown.
Cuki Alvarez’s and the rest of MRA and their bikes have not touched CowTown soil since 2010 and their excitement was seen through their performance.
Cuki Alvarez cruised through all eight laps in the Adult Open Class category to nip the 1st place seat while son Shane Alvarez followed in his father’s footsteps at 2nd place and Angelito Hernaez taking 3rd place. Coming in at 4th place was Kiku Santos, Corry Pangelinan at 5th, Patrick Togawa at 6th, Chris Alepuyo at 7th, Kier Agda at 8th, Raymond Frank Alvarez Jr. at 9th, Etay Mendoza at 10th, Henry Camacho (ATV) at 11th and Vince Torres at 12th place.
The Minis 1 and 2 divisions also joined the competition led by MJ Camacho in a 6-lap race. Ethan Yumul later joined at 2nd place followed by Devin Yumul at 3rd, BengBeng Palacios at 4th, Nanako Celis at 5th and Miyako Celis at 6th place.
“It was a very cool experience and ‘nostalgic’. It was nice to be able to ride and race again back at CowTown after 12 years! Lots of fond memories came back from the good old days, especially seeing a lot of the kids back then who are all grown up now and are still riding!”stated MRA Vice President Cuki Alvarez. “In fact, a lot of those kids became parents themselves and are now introducing their children to motocross! So there’s the old and new generation of riders all riding together now. We reminisced about all the international events we held there from 2003 to 2008. And we are excited to bring it back again.” He added.
