Reelected and newly elected lawmakers were also given the opportunity to ask questions pertaining to the government budget in the current fiscal year, among other things.

Acting Legislative Bureau Director Carla San Nicolas said  every two years, members of the Legislature are briefed on the fiscal year budget process, office account expenditures and other things new members of the Legislature need to know.

In an interview, Rep.-elect Celina Babauta said many of them are familiar with the government budget process, but “it’s always nice to come back and get a refresher.”

She added, “It was actually a crash course in accounting and how to interpret the spreadsheets.”

Aside from Babauta and Sen.-elect Edith Deleon Guerrero, the other newly elected members who attended the briefing were Rep.-elect Leila Staffler, Rep.-elect Denita Yangetmai and Rep.-elect Angel Demapan who previously served as a House member for two terms.

The other incoming 22nd House members who attended the briefing were Speaker Blas Jonathan Attao, House Floor Leader John Paul Sablan, Reps. Ralph Yumul, Richard Lizama, Tina Sablan, Sheila Babauta and Donald Manglona.
