Saipan Chamber of Commerce and First Lady Wella Foundation unite for Toys for Tots drive-thru

(SCC) — The Saipan Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the First Lady Wella Foundation, proudly announces the launch of the Toys for Tots Campaign Toy Drive-Thru, a joint effort aimed at spreading joy and holiday cheer to families in need.

The campaign team includes the chamber, the Associate Students of the Northern Marianas College, the Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs and the Women’s Affairs Office.

Scheduled for Dec. 22, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., or until supplies last, the toy drive-thru will take place at American Memorial Park within the parking lot area. This event is open to the public, with a primary focus on reaching families facing financial hardships during the holiday season.

Kimberly Camacho, executive director of SCC, emphasized the campaign’s commitment to the Toys for Tots foundation’s mission: “collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.”

“We aim to serve families who may struggle to provide a gift for their children this Christmas,” stated Camacho. “Our goal is to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those facing challenges during this festive season.”

The event will strictly adhere to drive-thru protocols to ensure a safe and efficient process:

• Participants must be in a vehicle.

• No walk-ins will be allowed.

• Children must be present in the vehicle.

• The event is open for ages 0-17 only.

While identification of households won’t be required, the organizers urge the community to uphold the spirit of honesty, aligning with the primary goal of serving all children in need.

According to Camacho, “The Toy Drive is on a first-come, first-serve basis. We encourage the community to participate early, as the event is while supplies last. Volunteers will be stationed to collect information, including child gender and age, from each vehicle before reaching the distribution site, ensuring a seamless and organized process.”
