Team Legends, Alliana’s secure 3rd basketball wins

Team Legends’ Alken Ege extends for the uncontested finish during a game of the 2023 Pacific Saipan Promo Invitational Basketball League at the Gualo Rai basketball court.

TEAM Legends and Alliana’s collected their third wins in the 2023 Pacific Saipan Promo Invitational Basketball League on Wednesday at the Gualo Rai basketball court. 

Team Legends trounced the Eagles 80-60 while Alliana’s outlasted Unity Trade, 61-58. 

In the opening quarter against Team Legends, the Eagles’ Sam Darag found his rhythm and scored seven points. However, in the second canto, they were nearly shut down while Team Legends’ Johnrey Discartin delivered eight points to give his team a comfortable lead, 34-25. 

The Eagles tried to catch up, but with only Darag able to find the back of the net, they remained behind while Team Legends’ Jun and Jepoy Tabora scored at will to maintain the lead, 52-43. 

In the final quarter, Darag finally got some help from Alain Nunez, but they lacked defensive coverage, which allowed Team Legends to finish strong, 80-60, thanks to Jun Tabora’s 10 points. 

Alliana’s vs Unity Trade

Alliana’s bagged their third win of the season by slipping past Unity Trade, 61-58. 

It was a seesaw battle from start to finish. 

Alliana’s controlled the opening quarter with teamwork highlighted by the inside game of Jose Broncano and the range of Richard Mendoza who scored a combined 15 points to give their team a 21-12 lead. 

But  in the second canto, Unity Trade flipped the script. They held Alliana’s to just seven points while Unity Trade’s Dhan Mateo took over with 13 points alone to snatch control, 33-28. 

Both teams continued to trade blows throughout the second half with Unity Trade holding a slight advantage by the end of the third quarter.

However, they lost their grip in the fourth and final period while Alliana’s Jobert Merales scored nine crucial points to run away with the win, 61-58.
