Since the college announced the vacancy in November, Cepeda said they have received numerous applications through email.
In September, the board formed a presidential search committee to oversee the presidential selection process.
Frankie Eliptico, who has served as interim president since August 2018, has declined to be considered for the position.
According to Cepeda, the closing date for submitting an application is on Dec. 21, 2020.
The presidential search committee has come up with the questions that will be asked during the interview process, and a scoring guide that will be used to evaluate each of the applicants, he added.
The search committee is chaired by Cepeda, and its other members are Regent Elaine Hocog Orilla, Regent Irene T. Torres, Regent Jesse M. Tudela, Associated Students of NMC president Maia Pangelinan, Faculty Senate president Dr. Laura Taylor, Staff Senate president Geraldine Rodgers, and administrator representative Maria Aguon.
When the interview process is completed, Cepeda said the committee will select the top three applicants and recommend them to the Board of Regents.
“The regents will then conduct their own interview and select the new president,” he said.
Meanwhile, the committee continues to accept applications emailed to PSC.Chairman@marianas.edu
“We are still a long way,” Cepeda said. “This will give ample time for everyone on island and off-island to submit their applications.”
As for the interview process with the presidential search committee, he said it may take a month.
