SAIPAN is the favorite destination of 240 Japanese that recently visited the island.
Mizuno Hiroaki, president of Haru Group, a major company engaged in selling health products in Japan, said he and his employees decided to choose Saipan because of its beaches and its close proximity to their country.
“We like Saipan. I like Managaha. I’m looking forward to coming here again,” Hiroaki said.
The group’s travel agent, Jalpak International Micronesia, said a lot of tourists want to visit Saipan.
“Saipan remains a place for leisure,” Hikaru Arai, Jalpak operation division officer, said.
Hiroaki’s group arrived on Saturday and stayed here until Tuesday.
Hiroaki planted flame trees in Marpi last Sunday afternoon and his company donated $2,000 to Marianas Visitors Authority to assist the agency “in keeping the islands clean and green.”
“We wanted to plant more flame trees but we decided to just donate the money to MVA,” he said.
Also on weekend, some 200 members of Shiko Gakuen mission arrived on Saipan to hold their annual peace memorial activities at Banzai Cliff.
Shiko Gakuen, formed 16 years ago, built the Japanese monument at Banzai Cliff in 1987.
MVA officials led by its managing director, Jonas Ogren, attended the activities of both visiting groups.
