Tahiti provides new channels to Cooks

PAPE’ETE (Pacnews) — French Polynesia’s Post and Telecommunications Department and Telecom Cook Islands have signed an agreement for OPT to provide digital TV programs to the Cook Islands.

Cook Islanders will now have access to CNN, TCM and the Cartoon networks.

OPT obtained the rights to offer these channels from the Turner company in the U.S. Subscribers in the Cook Islands are expected to pay NZ$35 ($16) a month for access to the new channels.

Cook Islands Telecommunications Minister Norman George said the country was entering into a new world of telecommunications thanks to the initiative by the French Polynesian government.
