The organizers of this year’s national championship have already completed the list of those who competed, with corresponding results for the sports events which include 100, 200, 400, 800, 1,500 meters run, 4 x 100, 4 x 400 relays, long jump, javelin throw and discus throw.
Coach and tournament coordinator, Elias Rangamar noted that this year’s qualifier had bigger number of participants compare to last year’s although the number of those who qualified for this year’s Annual McDonald All-School Championship is almost the same as last year’s event.
Last year, less than 400 children and teenagers competed in the national championship with about 300 of them made it to the main even on the succeeding month.
Rangamar said that among the 300 who qualified for McDonald’s they also hope that those in the 18-and-under and Open division can make it to the 2008 Oceania 18 Under and Open Area Championship that will be held at the Oleai Sports Complex from June 25 to 28.
The top eight young athletes in every event have already been listed, and almost each school—elementary, junior high and high school—that participated have students who made it in the qualifying tournament.
Dandan Elementary School for example has 11 students who made it to the top eight in different events.
Antonio Deleon Guerrero placed second in the 100-meter run in the Boys 8-and-under as he finished 18.95 seconds, Maxten Doone
Jolena Gopez and Brooklyn Pangelinan were among those who topped in the 100-meter dash for Girls 8-and-under.
William S. Reyes School has four boys who were qualified in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash.
