THERE’S a big difference between a promising baseball player and a kid playing baseball.
The former is what best describes Frankie Camacho, according to Pirates team manager, Mark Flores.
The 12-year-old Pirate short stop is the 2008 Saipan Liattle League Majors Division’s batting champion as he topped the list of the batting leaders averaging 733.
He hit 33 of his 45 at-bats for the entire season the started last February.
In all the 15 games of the regular season, Camacho strived to be the best not only in pitching for which he usually played substitute to Jonah Flores, but also in batting and in catching as well.
Taking the role of team captain, Camacho just want to excel in many things while helping others bring out their best too.
That attitude, Flores said is very hard to find among the children today.
Kids, he said usually play baseball because they just like to. Some however, play baseball they want to reach something.
“He’s a smart player and very patient,” Flores said.
It is Camacho’s third year in the Little League and was able to achieve 75 percent out to bat.
This year’s league that concluded last weekend with the Patriots winning the championship, would be Camacho’s final league.
Flores broke the news that Camacho, Jonah Flores, Damian Torres, Austin Guerrero and Patrick Reyes will be moving up to higher league—the Junior League—next year.
And determined as he is, Camacho kept himself busy trying to maintain his batting power and practice with pitching and catching as well.
