NMC hires Key Trio consultants

Key Trio, which will get $150,000 from NMC, will “facilitate and support the college’s program review, student learning outcomes, planning and evaluation efforts.”

According to NMC, Key Trio played a major role in helping pull the College of the Marshall Islands out of a similar “show cause” accreditation status.

The contract is funded by an operations and maintenance improvement program grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.

“Because of the urgency of our situation, we’re extremely fortunate to be able to enlist the assistance of Key Trio as we move to obtain full accreditation,” said NMC President Carmen Fernandez.

Fernandez said the consultants’ “impressive background and track record” will help the college accelerate the implementation of accrediting commission’s recommendations in a short time frame.

She said NMC is grateful to the Office of Insular Affairs for its financial assistance and to the Office of the Governor for “its continued support in facilitating the approval of the grant.”

Last month, Key Trio consultants met with NMC faculty, staff, and students to review the college’s assessment efforts to date.

Dr. Alan Belcher, Key Trio managing partner, also assisted NMC faculty by “facilitating a workshop where he emphasized and illustrated the mapping of student learning outcomes at the assignment, course, program, and institutional levels. “

Belcher, moreover,  worked with NMC’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness in “aggregating and analyzing student achievement data for the purposes of program review.”
