Togawa had a stellar performance as she seized the lead early in the day. With a handful of pars and a couple of birdies, Togawa completed the front nine with a gross score of 39. She continued to maintain her near-perfect stroke as she closed the back nine with a gross of 38 for a gross score of 77. With a handicap of 8, Togawa clinched a net score of 69.
Togawa was not in the clear, however, as Sea Hee Kim shadowed behind.
Despite a couple of errors, Kim kept a steady performance with a gross score of 48 on the front nine. She then greatly improved her outcome on the back nine with a score of 40 for a total gross score of 88. Supported by a handicap of 19, Kim’s net score matched Togawa’s.
When a tie occurs, however, the player with the lower handicap gains the upper-hand.
This tie-breaking rule gave Togawa the top spot while Kim settled for second place.
Finishing third was Lou Kim who ended both ends of the course with a gross of 50 for a total score of 100. Aided by a handicap of 30, her net score was 70.
