Not only is this issue highly suspicious as that of a set-up to frame TAOTAO TANO for missing evidence, the incompetence of your attorney general, and the ignorance of your public information officer to investigate what had actually transpired is beyond realm Governor.
We executed a contract agreement with the people responsible for the government quarters, and upon entry of the said facility it was abundantly clear that it was neglected — electrical and plumbing were missing and doors were wide open.
TAOTAO TANO was never informed that the attorney general was using such a building as an evidence storage facility. OPM personnel assured us that the last person occupying the building was Ms. Pamela Mathis, former PIO for CUC, and there were no keys available because CUC or Pamela Mathis never returned them to OPM.
We were informed and advised by OPM personnel that TAOTAO TANO could use the chairs in question. Our members conducted a physical inventory and the numbers are not matching and are completely the opposite.
Furthermore, if the AG is actually using house #1348, why was the building unsecured Governor? Why were we set-up and framed to take the fall for your attorney general’s incompetence? Is this how our government treats critical and important evidence to be used in court to prove prosecution or one’s innocence beyond a reasonable doubt Governor?
As you may be aware, we had filed a criminal trespassing case against your attorney general and its investigators involved in the unlawful break-in and entry of our office space.
Governor, no one is above the law and we respect our laws, but in this case we were disrespected, set-up and framed to take the fall.
We are in disagreement with you letter rescinding our facility assignment without further investigating what had transpired. Someone has to be held responsible and accountable for such a set-up and framing of TAOTAO TANO.
Regarding your statement on the function of your indigenous affairs office — we challenge and question the integrity and existence of a self-serving agency not serving the interest of the indigenous Chamorros and Carolinians in our homeland.
Our Northern Marianas descent people of the land have been ignored and disrespected and the indigenous affairs office had done nothing to educate our people as to what their rights are as being the true indigenous Chamorros and Carolinians of our magnificent homeland and commonwealth.
In closing, as president of TAOTAO TANO, I ask your humble consideration to investigate properly and thoroughly your attorney general and public information officer’s motive in setting-up and framing the TAOTAO TANO organization, and include the consideration that our members and their family have spent an entire day cleaning the mess that our government left behind.
Thank you and please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist or answer any questions you may have.
Gregorio Cruz Jr.
President
TAOTAO TANO
