Gov. Benigno R. Fitial signed into law House Local Bill 16-7 to rename the park in honor of the family of the late Ignacio Castro Camacho and Dolores SN. Camacho, who were fondly known as the “Pakpak” family.
They have resided in the area for over 30 years and “have maintained the beach for the benefit of the community and our visitors,” according to the local bill which is now Saipan Local Law 16-3.
The Division of Parks and Recreation will install a sign bearing the new name of the beach park.
The new law was authored by Saipan Republican Reps. David M. Apatang, Joseph P. Deleon Guerrero and Ralph DLG. Torres.
In other news, the governor certified vacancies for the positions of zoning officer I, zoning officer II and zoning officer III for the Zoning Board.
On May 27, Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez, in his capacity as acting governor, certified vacant positions for four police cadets of the Department of Public Safety on Tinian, and one director for the Division of Real Estate of the Department of Public Lands.
“The filling of these vacant positions are of vital importance for the efficient delivery of essential public services,” Villagomez stated. “Continuing appropriations are available for the full personnel cost associated with these vacancies.”
