Palau welcomes Fleet of Friendship

Taiwan Ambassador Matthew Lee said the fleet included three ships which brought 739 crewmembers.

Chin said one of the fleet’s mission is to provide graduates of the Naval Academy of Taiwan with practical at-sea training and the other ships meanwhile were docked at different ports in Palau.“The goodwill visit of the Fleet of Friendship of the Republic of China to Palau this weekend is another gesture to show our friendship,” Lee said.The fleet left yesterday with Palau receiving donations of pieces of marching equipment.The name of the vessel that were part of fleet were Wu-Yi , Zhang-Qian and Xi-Ning.Xi-Ning, the leading ship was opened to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the berth of Malakal port.Chin held a welcoming ceremony for the fleet with Taiwan Ambassador Matthew Lee last Saturday night at Ngarachamayong Cultural Center.Rear Admiral Shin Fa-Chen , commander of the ship said it was a wonderful visit to Palau.“The goodwill visit of the squadron brings our country’s most sincere blessing’s to you,” Chen said.He added, “the Republic of China, Taiwan and the Republic of Palau have been maintaining a firmly relationship in governments and people, We share the same value of democracy and freedom and have the established a closely partnership in various cooperative programs.”Chen also thanked Chin for the welcome given to his squadron.
