Remengesau to again issue energy saving measures for gov’t agencies

The president said the aside from the existing presidential directive on energy conservation; the new measures will further cut down government power consumption.The president said that he will propose that government offices turn off air-condition units for at least three hours everyday.He said that he will also propose that water pumps to be shutdown.The president said that he will also meet with the energy committee to further draw up recommendations to cut down electricity consumption.“Palau is no exception in what is happening in other countries as a result of the  fuel increase in the world market,” Remengesau said.The government will also look into renewable energy as alternative source of fuel.He said that Palau have obtained assistance from the Eurpoean Union to install solar lighting at the Capitol.The Belau National Hospital meanwhile has acquired a grant from the Taiwan government to install solar lighting.
