TANAPAG Elementary School named Annalyn Sablan Tenorio and Cassandra Lyn Castro as its outstanding sixth graders during the promotion ceremony on campus yesterday.
Thirty-one other sixth graders were promoted to junior high school, according to school principal Francisca Ulloa.
She said it’s the school’s tradition to hold an End of the Year Awards Celebration in acknowledging the students’ hard work.
Tenorio is this year’s recipient of the Commissioner of Education Award.
The daughter of Belinda and John Tenorio, the 12-year-old student also received other special awards for excellence in bilingual, language arts, citizenship and spelling.
Ulloa described Annalyn S. Tenorio as a constant achiever.
“She’s our most outstanding student, very creative and active in various school activities and programs — she’s an achiever besides being an artist herself,” the principal said.
In her speech, Annalyn S. Tenorio expressed her gratitude to her family and teachers for all the support they provided to her.
She also encouraged her fellow students to continue to seek learning.
This year’s principal’s awardee, Cassandra Lyn Castro, is the daughter of Regina Castro.
The 12-year-old student also received four other special recognitions — “A” honor roll, best in math, the Citizenship Award, and the presidential Award.
“It’s good to feel that hard work is rewarded,” she said.
She offered her achievements and honors to her mother, whom she described as her “inspiration.”
“I want to thank her for everything she did to me,” she said.
Both outstanding students will go to Hopwood Junior High School.
“I know it’s going to be different and difficult…but I will do my best,” Castro said.
The top five sixth graders in this school year were Tenorio, Castro, Milagros Concepcion I. King, Jaedyn April N. Cepeda, and Louvicki Francil N. Camacho.
In her message, Ulloa encouraged students to completer their education as she urged parents to continue providing guidance and unconditional love to their children.
