p to Palau.
Aging Director Howard Macaranas expressed his satisfaction with the turnout of for event which highlighted the month-long celebration of the Older Americans Month.
“We’re very happy for our manamko’,” he said. “This night is the highlight of the month-long celebration honoring them and we’re just satisfied to see them and their family enjoying the celeberation.”
He said over $8,000 was raised from Friday’s event and will entitle the Manamko’ Royal Court to represent the Aging Office in the Liberation Day festival next month.
Macaranas said this year’s coronation demonstrated more elegance and style.
Held in PIC’s Charley Cabaret Hall, the event featured a stage decorated by fresh flowers and guest performers playing romantic music.
The new queen said it was her first time to join the celebration adding that she enjoyed sharing moments and activities with her colleagues.
Rosalia Sablan joined the manamko’ center last October.
Since then, she has been actively participating in all the fundraising activities of the group.
She thanked her family for supporting her.
“This reminds me of the old days,” she said. “We’re happy that we’re not only promoting good health but we’re also providing them fun and entertainment that they will cherish.”
The new king, Felipe Santiago, said the experience was fun.
He vowed to be an active participant in all the activities of the manamko’.
He thanked the members’ families for their assistance and support.
Early last month, the senior citizens played softball against lawmakers, whom they beat.
Also in May, the senior citizens marked Takeover Day which allowed them to fill the CNMI government’s top positions for a day.
