Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced Calistro Acosta Crisostomo on Monday for three counts for conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, and theft based on the information filed in court by the Attorney General’s Office on July 17, 2007.
Crisostomo pleaded guilty to the burglary and theft charges.
He will pay $3,785.19 in fines, and $1,000 in court and probation fees.
He will write a letter of apology to the victims, receive counseling evaluation at the Community Guidance Center and perform 200 hours of community work service at a minimum rate of five hours per month.
He is prohibited from consuming or possessing alcohol and other intoxicating substances during his probation.
Crisostomo was charged for burglarizing the Marianas Cable Vision in 2007 along with two other individuals. He was arrested again in the same year after he was positively identified by the victims for burglarizing the vehicle of a family of tourists in Marpi.
Detective George David’s affidavit submitted to the court stated that Kyung Hoi Hur and his family were sightseeing on Suicide Cliff on April 2, 2007, past 4 p.m. when Crisostomo entered their rented vehicle.
Crisostomo took the bag of Kyung Hoi Hur’s wife and ran toward a parked pick-up truck. The victims chased the pick-up as it headed to a dirt road in Marpi area. Crisostomo later got out from the truck and confronted Kyung Hoi Hur. He picked up a rock and threatened to throw the rock at Kyung Hoi Hur who was still inside the vehicle. The defendant then went back to his pick-up and left.
But the victims managed to get the truck’s plate number and reported the incident to the police. They lost a black bag, an IBM laptop computer, a USB chip, passports and $300 cash.
