TEAMS Alice in Willywonderland, TRAC Development Team and Ruth & Vernz have joined Shuji Kuroda and Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez in the spotlight of last Saturday’s Triathlon Association of the CNMI 5th Saipan Duathlon as they secured the first place seat in their respective divisions of the team relay category.
In the Mixed Relay division, Alice in Willywonderland took the crown as Alice Xiu and Willy Barbo tread through the course with control to set a smooth cruise to victory. Just like the individual category, the teams covered a 5km run and then transitioned on bike for a distance of 20km and returning for the switch back to the runner completing the remaining 2.5km stretch. Alice in Willywonderland crossed the finish line with a time of 01:11’38 followed by Jully Ann Felipe and Joel Buco of Team Pasaway at 2nd place clocking in 01:13’56 and Yu-Noh!’s Yuki Rechuchur and Noe Valdisimo at 3rd with a time of 01:14’17 for the top 3 spot.
In the Men’s Relay division it was the TRAC Development Team that took over with three minutes to spare. Josh Joson and Jojo Valencia powered their way through the course with a completion time of 01:07’26 for the first place seat. Jalen Lucido and Jomer Enriquez of team Just For Fun joined in later at 2nd place with a time of 01:10’25 and Team Bah!, filled by Vhoie Francia and Rusty Valino, taking 3rd place wtih a time of 01:11’53.
And in the Women’s Relay division, Team Ruth & Vernz bagged the top seat by barely a minute against the competition. Ruth Jie Sun and Vernice Ronda celebrated with a finish time of 01:27’23 while Astrid Poole and Pamela Walsh of Loco Ladies settled for 2nd place with a time of 01:28’32 beating Jerrilyn Castillo adn Rowena Houk of team Jerrilyn & Weng who sits at 3rd place with a time of 01:29’26.
A total of 24 teams participated in this year’s event which was sponsored by Tan Holdings Corporation, MarPac Saipan and DFS Saipan LTD. TRAC would also like to thank the Department of Public Safety headed by LTC/CDR. Anthony Macaranas.
