“We are trying to speed up the process to start the casino industry in the island,” he said.
After the public hearing on May 30, the council is supposed to convene and evaluate the inputs from the community and confirm Abelina T. Mendiola and Justin S. Manglona’s.
But both appointees have not submitted their drug test results, which are “very crucial in their qualification,” Apatang told Variety in a telephone interview yesterday.
He said the council is expecting to get the drug examination results this week.
The public hearings on Mendiola and Manglona were “very productive and we received positive comments from the community,” Apatang said.
Manglona, in a separate interview, said a private medical clinic told him that his drug test result was already sent to his address.
He said he underwent the test on May 19 and the result was supposed to come out 10 days later.
He said he has no idea what caused the delay in the delivery of the test result.
Still, he added, “I feel very confident that the testimonies regarding my nomination were very positive” during the public hearings.
