Guam: 120th Covid-19-related fatality reported

HAGÅTÑA (JIC) — The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 120th Covid-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital on Dec. 20, 2020 at approximately 11:45 p.m. The patient was an 80-year-old male with underlying conditions. He was admitted to GMH on November 11, 2020 and tested positive that same day.

“It has been said that to weep is to make less the depth of grief. To his family and friends, you are not alone in your sorrow and may you continue to find comfort in the outpouring of support around you. Jeff, Lt. Governor Josh, and I send our sincerest condolences,” said Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero.

Nine  new cases of Covid-19 were identified out of 597 tests performed by the Department of Public Health and Social Services) on Sunday, December 20, 2020, and tests from additional labs from Friday, December 18 to Sunday, December 20. Four cases were identified through contact tracing. One case reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine.

To date, there have been a total of 7,211 officially reported cases of Covid-19 with 120 deaths, 431 cases in active isolation and 6,660 not in active isolation.
