YUKO Togawa has made her way into the list of aces after slipping past Sea Hee Kim in a tie-breaker taking the title of CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s December Ace of the Month held last Saturday, December 12, at the Loaloa Bay Golf Resort west course.
Togawa had a stellar performance as she created a sense of comfort early in the day. With a handful of pars and a couple of birdies, Togawa completed the front nine with a gross score of 39 to stand tall at first place. She continued to maintain her near-perfect stroke as she closed the back nine with a gross of 38 to total out a gross score of 77. Joined by a handicap of 8, Togawa’s net score was reduced to 69 for the first place seat.
Togawa was not in the clear, however, as fellow golfer Sea Hee Kim shadowed behind.
Despite a couple of errors, Kim kept a steady performance with a gross score of 48 in the front nine and greatly improved her outcome in the back nine with a score of 40 for a total gross score of 88. Supported by a handicap of 19, Kim held a net score of 69 to share the first place seat with Togawa.
Fortunately for Togawa, when a tie occurs the player with the lower handicap gains the upperhand, thus handing Togawa the advantage to claim the first place seat while Kim settled for second place with both holding a net score of 69.
Taking third place was Lou Kim who ended both ends of the course with a gross of 50 for a total score of 100. Aided by a handicap of 30, her net score was brought down to 70 securing the third place seat.
The next CWGA tournament will be held on January 9th at the Kingfisher Golf Links with a tee time of 12:30 p.m.
