Kaipat, 31, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace. On Wednesday, she appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan who imposed a $7,500 cash bail on the defendant.
The court appointed Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig to represent Kaipat, while Assistant Attorney General Steve Kessell appeared for the government.
In the early morning of Aug. 21, 2020, Kaipat went to the Kagman residence of the father of her daughter to get their belongings.
The ex-boyfriend told police that Kaipat was obviously intoxicated. He said she kept coming closer while he kept backing up. She then started to chase him around the house.
A witness told police that Kaipat “went crazy and started yelling and chasing the ex-boyfriend with a knife.”
When responding police officers arrived at the house, they saw Kaipat being held down by her former boyfriend and his relatives who said she was threatening them with a knife.
On Wednesday afternoon, Kaipat, through her defense attorney, petitioned the court for a bail modification. She asked the court to allow her to be released upon posting $750 or 10% of the bail amount.
As of press time Wednesday evening, Variety could not confirm if her request for bail modification was granted.
