Omar was given credit for time served and will be placed on three years of supervised release upon completing his sentence.
Omar pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine where a child was present on May 4, 2018.
Attorney David Banes represented Omar at the sentencing hearing while Assistant U.S. Attorney Garth Backe appeared for the federal government.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency was alerted to the conspiracy after several individuals purchased big doses of cold medicines that contain pseudoephedrine at local pharmacies.
According to the prosecution, Omar and his co-defendants Vincent David Cabrera Jr., Eugene Blas Repeki Jr., and Sidney Cappele Kani — along with others — agreed to manufacture and distribute meth.
The federal court has sentenced Cabrera and Repeki to 15 years’ imprisonment each while Kani was sentenced to seven years in prison.
