Pride Month workout at the park today, June 13

PRIDE Marianas and Latte Built Fitness are conducting a free workout program at American Memorial Park in support of Pride Month today, Tuesday, June 13.

The Park Pump exercise class takes place in the field next to the amphitheater, starting at 6 p.m. and concluding at 7 p.m.

Coach Lorenzo Sanchez said it will be a “fun but challenging experience.”

He said participants will get a full body workout with some music and rhythm thrown in to keep it lively.

Derek Cutting of Latte Built said when it comes to health, his business wants everyone to find success.

Latte Built, he added, “is in support of all people in respect for their health and wellness. Young, old, beginner, advanced athlete, multi- cultural, LGBQT, straight… No matter who or what you are, we are here to help you reach your health and fitness goals!”

Roberto Santos, the event organizer, said to be strong physically helps his community be stronger in all other parts of life.

“Access to health care is limited for marginalized communities, and the LGBTQIA+ community is marginalized even within marginalized communities,” Santos said. “We have to be resourceful when it comes to taking care of ourselves. We have to be resilient physically and mentally so we are more prepared to survive the constant trauma of standing up for our identities.”
