Chaired by Senate Vice President Jude Hofschneider, the committee also consists of vice chair Sen. Sixto Igisomar, Senate Floor Leader Justo Quitugua, Sens. Francisco Borja, Francisco Cruz, Vinnie Sablan, and Teresita Santos.
At the budget hearing Tuesday, officials of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation will be presenting their budget proposal for FY 2021.
The hospital is asking for a subsidy of roughly $33 million from the central government, but the administration can propose $4.7 million only.
Last week, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. decided to disconnect the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. from the CUC power grid for six hours daily due to the failure of CHCC to pay for its utilities.
CUC said the unpaid utility bills of CHCC now amount to $35 million.
CHCC said it cannot make timely payments to CUC because it is underfunded and yet must provide uncompensated care.
