Over the weekend, he said litter patrol officers reported about the trash scattered on the beach.
“I highly urge everyone to clean up after using any of the beach sites,” the mayor said.

He reminded the community that pursuant to the Litter Control Act, a litter patrol officer may impose a fine from $25 to $5,000 based on the weight and type of the trash, and location where the act of littering took place.
Aldan said public beaches and pathways remain closed to all activities except for purposes of exercise, wellness, and fishing. The people using them must observe social distancing rules, the mayor added.
“If anyone would like to engage in such permissible activities, I am asking the entire community of Tinian to also share the responsibility of beautifying and protecting our beach because it is ours,” he said.
He urged community members to take pride in their beautiful island and to help each other keep it clean.
