The price is now down to $3.08 a gallon — a bit lower than the price in Aug. 2005 when regular gasoline cost $3.179 a gallon.
Mobil Oil reduced its fuel prices by 10 cents at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Supreme went down to $3.53 a gallon from $3.63 a gallon while diesel now costs $3.61 a gallon from $3.76 a gallon.
Motorist Carol Peter Hosono, who was at Mobil Oil Middle Road on Saturday, said it has been a long time since she saw the gas price was about $3.
She noted that since January, gas prices have been reduced by $1. “Yeah, it’s good news, but this shouldn’t give people a reason to go out and ignore social distancing rules,” she said.
