Co-authored by Senate Vice President Jude U. Hofschneider, Sens. Frank Borja and Frank Cruz, S.L.B. 21-5 is now Tinian Local Law 21-10.
It pays tribute to the life and memory of the late Kenneth Thomas Jones Jr., a U.S. Seabee and World War II veteran who established various businesses on Guam and the NMI.
In the 1960s, Ken Jones put up a 7,500-acre cattle ranch known as Bar K Ranch on Tinian, and raised over 8,000 cows and thousands of hogs. During Jones’ time on Tinian, the island served as the “bread basket” of the Marianas.
Last year, the Tinian and Aguigan Legislative Delegation adopted Resolution 17-3 to rename Kammer Beach to Jones Beach.
T.L.L. 21-10 states that the Tinian delegation agrees with the intent of the resolution and finds it fitting and proper to memorialize the life and memory of Kenneth Thomas Jones Jr. for all his contributions to the people and community of Tinian and the CNMI.
Jones passed away in Oct. 2008. He was 90 years old.
