Some newly issued driver’s licenses to expire next year

Asked why this is so, Department of Public Safety spokesman Dre Pangelinan told Variety on Thursday that usually, the validity of a CNMI driver’s license is three years.

But if the individual renewing the license is a CW-1 visa holder, “we follow their contract expiration date, which is typically every year.”

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles recently resumed some of its services, which include vehicle registration and transfer, watercraft registration and transfer, and driver’s license renewals.

But all driver examinations and driving tests have been postponed and will be rescheduled.

BMV will serve those who have expired driver’s licenses and vehicle/watercraft registrations since the month of March or earlier.

DPS will make another announcement for all other vehicle/driver’s licenses that have expired beginning April 1, 2020.

BMV will be open today from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Individuals are encouraged to bring in complete documentation. They should make payments at the designated CNMI Treasury cashiers before submitting renewal applications.
